Born and raised in small-town Canada, Fraser Stevens gained his undergraduate degree (BA Hons.) at York University in Toronto, focusing on elements of design, stagecraft and theatre studies. In 2010 he moved to the UK to obtain his MA in Practising Theatre and Performance, from Aberystwyth University in Wales. After successfully completing his practical portion he was hired by the Department of Theatre, Film and Television Studies as a technician while finishing the theoretical phase of his dissertation. Throughout the year he acted foremost as a production manager, but delved into scenography and instruction. Recently he has relocated to Amsterdam and is acting as a freelance technician. His areas of interest include: representing the non-tangible on the stage, how identities are constructed, theatricality and performativity within everyday life, the use of technology within live performance, and new methods of devising as an ensemble.
